Birthday card for a beautiful lady.......

Hello Crafty friends!!  Today started out with some rain....now it's storming!  I love storms!  Okay...back on track, today's post is a birthday card I made for a friend of mine.  This is the first time I used a "swing" card. Just like the "step" cards, cutting the layers was the most time consuming part.  I used another one of Jinger Adams card bases.

I cut out all the papers and glued them on my base.  I love these colors.  The photos don't do them justice!
......and here is my finished card!  I love how this came out!!
I used a crochet flower and leaves on the front to give it texture....and I dabbed ink on the "Happy Birthday" part.  I used Anna Griffin 3D embellishments "for my" and "friend" and used layered dies to cut the shapes on the "Happy Birthday" and the stamp from My Creative Time.
That's my card for today!  Hope you like it!  Thanks for stopping by.....come again real soon!

Cousins get together.....

Good morning my Crafty friends!!  Today I would like to share with you a project I made for a friend of mine.  She told me she and 11 cousins were going to get together for a fun weekend.  This was going to be the first of many years of the bonding weekends for them and the first one was going to be in  the Atlanta area.  She asked for wine glass etchings.....but decided against that.  I told her I could make something that she could frame or hang if they wanted to. She sent me a scripture to use and  I printed these out on my computer.....and rounded the corners.....I love rounded corners!
used one of my We Are Memory Keepers Lucky 8 punches for the borders.....
I wanted something on the back so that she could write the date and any personal sentiments that she wanted, so here is the back....I used a Spellbinders die and a stamp set from Close to My Heart....
I used my Xyron Creatopia to make the job easier and faster.........
This was the finished product....so I thought......it was missing something......
so I added some black Dazzles!!!
I hope you can see it pretty good from the picture......it doesn't do it justice.
Well, that's it for me today.  I hope you like my project!   Thanks for stopping by.  Come back again real soon.....and say "hi"!   Enjoy the rest of your Tuesday!

Change of year......

Good morning my Crafty friends.  This weekend went by so fast!  I have't had a busy weekend like this one in a long time.  I am tired, but it's a good tired!  Today's post is a picture frame of my son, Brian Keith, at his high school graduation.  He graduated in 2012.  When I was looking for the frames right before school ended in May 2012, they didn't have anymore with the year printed on them.  So I forgot about it until April of this year.  All the frames now of course have "2013"  on them and I didn't want to wait again and miss out, or pass them up so I bought one with the wrong year on it.

I  put Brian's picture in it and  added the gold on the sides of the picture to add more color.  I also added the black base to cover up the wrong year on the bottom.
Then I pulled out my handy dandy alphabet die set from MCT.  This set is called lowercase fun dies and her new set called stitched 4x6 journal die for the numbers......and here is my finished project.

I may even go back one day and add a graduation cap on the outside of the frame in the color purple from the die set called here's lookin' at you  also from MCT.   I love Mrs. Emma's products.  If you're not familiar with them, go over and check them out!  You won't be disappointed!  She also has an awesome DT and they offer us so much inspiration with all the wonderful projects they make!!

Well, that's it for me today.  Thanks for coming by and come back to see me again real soon!  I love reading your comments.   See ya soon!

A card for a timed challenge......

Hello my fellow Crafty people!   I have been MIA from my craft room for a while.  My daughter had summer camp for 8 weeks which had me out of my house all day for weeks.  So now that it is over for this summer, I now have some Crafty time!  Tonight on the FB group Kraftie Kre8tions, they had a timed challenge. We had to make cards in 2 1/2 hours and we were to use, ribbon, brads, a paperclip, a shape not squares or rectangles and a hand written sentiment.  Well, I gathered my papers, cutters, glue gun, pens, paperclip and the card base.  I chose a step card from Teresa Collins.

Cutting all the different sizes of the papers was the hardest part.

I decided to do a "back to school" themed card since it is literally around the corner!! Where has the summer gone?

Here is my finished card.....so I thought!!  I went back and re-read what was to be included and I forgot to add ribbon and brads!!  So back to the drawing board......and here is my finished project!

I hope you see the 3 green brads on the bottom and the ribbon around the books that I added!

It was fun....and I finished well before the 2 1/2 hours!!  Kinda proud of this one!
Thanks for looking.  Hope you like it!   See ya soon!

Journals and such.....

Hello my Crafty friends.   This past week has been a very wet one!  You would think I would have done a lot of crafty things while being held up in my house this entire week.....but NOT!   LOL  All the rain and storms just made me sleepy, lazy and more sleepy!   But I did get a chance to do  a little crafting.  My 15 year old daughter, Brandi, has been bitten by the acting, singing and modeling bug.  She has been in camp almost the entire summer.  Next week is the last week of camp and then the Show Case on the 20th!!!

Don't tell her I posted her pics though...LOL. You're probably thinking what does my daughter's head shots have to do with Crafting.... well, in camp they do a lot of writing and take a lot of notes.  I wanted to give one of the Mom's and her daughter a journal to use.  I tease the Mom a lot, because she is always taking notes!  She takes notes on everything!  Which is a good thing!  She will read a book and take notes, then forward me the notes just in case!  LOL... my daughter and I went to our local Michael's and bought a couple of journals.  I took them up to my Crafty room and added a little bit of embellishments cut with dies and vinyl.  We only gave 2 books at first, but as others saw them, they wanted one too.  So I think in all I altered 7 books.  LOL

I tried to add something to each inside page that fit each kid.  And my daughter wrote notes to each of them.  The one with the Eiffel Tower, the little 8 year old girl wishes to go to Paris one day.  I put ribbon on each side to use as bookmarks for each book as well.  All of them are singers but the one with the hot air balloon.  She just wants to act, but she is shy. So this balloon is to represent her going higher.  These were very fun to add embellishments to and the people really appreciated receiving them.  One of the first ones was for a friend of mine, one of the Mom's of a singer.  When I gave her her book, she started to cry.  She told me how she was on her last few pages and her daughter had just used her last pages the night before and how God's timing was so awesome because she really didn't have any more journals then  and here I was with journals, gift bags, cards and all!

I hope you like my post today.  And like I said in an earlier post.....I can get side tracked easily.  But I think today's post I stayed on topic pretty well.  I even tied my daughter's pics into the whole Crafty story very well! and to show her off just a bit!    LOL

Thanks for stopping by.  Hope you will come back again soon!

4th of July 2013

HAPPY 4th of JULY!!!

I would like to thank my husband Keith and all the other military  men and women past and present for all the sacrifices they have made for us to be able to enjoy all of our FREEDOMS!!  Today has been a wet, wet day in Georgia!  I don't mind the rain.....it's just that I haven't felt like doing nothing all day..except laying around!  LOL   So I finally got the crafty bug late this evening.

My husband, Keith, went into the Marine Corps when he was 18, straight out of high school!  He served proudly for 20 years and retired in 2000.  I loved being a marine wife and moving every 3 years was so much fun for me!!  I miss it a lot!

He looks so happy after graduation.

I love this pic!  He looks so serious and dedicated!

I think he looks like this embellishment that I found!   LOL

His Mom, Dad and Aunt Gladys came to support him!  I didn't know him then, but if I did, I would have been in this pic too!   LOL

He did boot camp at Parris Island, South Carolina.  Here is a picture of the mascot that was there at the time.  He is an old English bulldog and his name is Thor.

I hope you like my post and my pictures.  Thanks for stopping by.  I hope you all had a very safe and happy 4th!

Clean desk....and playing with my stash I won!!

Good afternoon Crafty friends.  Well to start off today, I slept in late.  Then I got up and cleaned my crafty desk.  That took a while.  I would show you a before pic...but you would probably never return to my blog.....but here is an after pic!

I participated in a blog hop last week held by Carter's Crafting Corner and C'est La-Vie Designs Unlimited, LLC.   I won a fabulous prize from Golden Goddess Designs!!  http://goldengoddessdesigns.blogspot.com/
And when I say fabulous prizes.......I mean FABULOUS!!

This pic really doesn't do the prizes justice....but you can get an idea about all the stuff that I received.  So I wanted to use some of it today in a layout.  I haven't done a 2 page layout in a while.  So it may be a little rough around the edges.  I know it needs something else other than pics...but I will have to play with it when I find the pics I want to add.  So here are the layouts.

I will try and pull out some pics to add later today.  If I do, I will come back and show you the changes.  I do love to grill and have people over.  We will see what Thursday holds.  It is supposed to rain and storm most of the day.....so it may be a little quiet around the home front.  But I do hope you enjoy your 4th of July!  Be safe......

Thanks for stopping by.  I would love for you to leave me comments to read and follow me if you don't already!

see ya!

Happy July 1st! Shadow box fun

Hello and Happy 1st day of July!!!   I posted yesterday that I would do better about posting...so I am!
One of my daughter's has a college friend that just had a baby girl. Her and her husband also have a little boy.  Maybe I can make the farm shadow box for him?  So back to the topic at hand, because I can get off topic with a quickness!!  LOL  She asked me to make something for her.....and so I did! ooooh.... I can even make a card and decorate a bag that matches too.  When I do, I will post those pics as well.

I love La-La Land Crafts!!  I ordered some of their shadow boxes.  They are amazing!  So here is my first try at the carousel shadow box.  I love their dies too and their stamps are so cute. You can go and check out their products for yourself and you will see what I mean.   http://shop.lalalandcrafts.com/

I hope you can see all the detail that is on the frame of the shadow box.  I used 2 different pattern papers for the top and the bottom and mirrored paper in the center and on the top border under the name. I separated those papers with light green ribbon.  I colored the pieces of the horse, saddle, mane, bridle, tail and flag pole with markers.  That was fun.  I used ink on the bottom layer of the frame.  I tried to show you the dimension of the horse.  I used pop dots between the front and back piece of the horse and the pole to the back of the box.  I used a little bling on the name tag and it too is popped up. The banner that the name is on is one of the dies  from La-La Land Crafts as well and so is the scalloped border.

I am pretty proud of how this came out.  I hope Isabella and her parents love it too!

thanks for stopping by.  I hope you like my shadow box.  see ya soon!
